Wordle #1779: PUFFY (4/6)
Two openers, two blanks. SALET went in first — the usual entropy-weighted choice — and came back five grays. No S, A, L, E, or T anywhere in today’s word. Then CORNI followed to sweep up another five common letters, and it too returned all gray. Ten letters gone, zero footholds.
PYGMY was the bridge. It carries P and Y — two letters worth testing after the vowel sweep — plus three more to eliminate. The result: green on both ends, gray in the middle. P locked into position one, Y confirmed at position five. The shape of the word was suddenly clear.
PUFFY was the only logical completion. Two F’s in the middle, U slotting into position two — an unusual double-consonant sandwich. The board lit up green across all five squares. Wordle #1779 down in four.
